Invest in Yourself

With more than 1,000 associates in our corporate home office in Topeka, Security Benefit is fast becoming one of America's leading retirement savings and income companies.

A leading employer in Northeast Kansas since our founding in 1892, we have been recognized by the Greater Topeka Partnership as one of the top places to work.

Security Benefit named to Forbes "America's Best-In-State Employers List"

In an inaugural survey, Security Benefit was named to the Forbes "America's Best-In-State Employers List." According to the new ranking, Security Benefit came in at No. 5 among the Top 29 companies in the state of Kansas. Forbes, in partnership with market research firm Statista, surveyed more than 80,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 500 people in their U.S. operations. Employees were consulted anonymously, state-by-state, through online panels to avoid any influence from their companies. Respondents were asked 35 questions to assess their companies and their local labor market. The rankings resulted from the combination of two main elements: employees’ willingness to recommend their employer and employees’ willingness to recommend other employers in their region.

As a follow up to the Forbes listing, CEO Mike Kiley was featured in Topeka Capital-Journal article on June 23 that took a closer look at why Security Benefit has been such a success.

Full-time and part-time (scheduled to work at least 20 hours a week) associates with one year of service are eligible to participate in Security Benefit's Tuition Reimbursement program. Managers may require an associate to complete two prerequisite courses if deemed beneficial to the associate's understanding of the industry and his/her job.

This program reimburses associates for tuition at accredited colleges or universities for job-related courses or courses related to a degree program appropriate to a position at Security Benefit. The cost of required textbooks and/or fees for an eligible course may also be reimbursed. The maximum amount of reimbursement is $3,000 in any calendar year. The rate of reimbursement is based on the grade received. A and B = 100%, C or "passing" = 75%. There is no reimbursement for grades below a C.

    401(k)

Security Benefit's Profit Sharing and Savings Plan offers an excellent source of retirement income while providing associates the opportunity to participate in the Company's growth and progress while saving on a tax-deferred basis.

Upon hire, eligible associates may contribute a percentage of pay on a pretax or post-tax basis to their Profit Sharing and Savings Plan Trust Account. Currently, the Company will match 100% of the first 5% of eligible earnings contributed. Associates are also immediately eligible for the discretionary profit sharing contribution. The company match and profit sharing contributions are fully vested after five years of service, 20% per year.

    On-site Child Care

Security Benefit offers on-site child care for our associates through our Security Benefit Academy.

The Academy serves Security Benefit associates with children six weeks to six years of age. Summer and winter holiday camps are offered for school-age children up to age 12 as long as demand justifies providing these two special programs.

The Academy provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage each child to develop physical, intellectual, and social skills while progressing through the various developmental stages at his/her own pace.

    Enrollment depends on classroom availability.
